West County Day School Staff – They Make a Difference

Smaller Scholar’s staff is dedicated to encourage self-directed, competent, caring, and enthusiastic learners.  Our teachers prepare an environment that is carefully planned with beautiful equipment and is peaceful and unhurried.  We are extremely proud of our professional and caring team of teachers at West County Day School.

“The Child should love everything that he learns for his mental and emotional growths are linked.  Whatever is presented to him must be made beautiful and clear.”   –  Maria Montessori

Montessori Teachers

Smaller Scholar’s Montessori Lead Teachers need the education requirements specified by Texas, plus Montessori credentials. AMS certification involves both academic work and an internship at an AMS-affiliated school.   These programs prepare our teachers to work with children from birth through 18 years of age.  Academic coursework includes human development and observation, which serve as a framework for understanding and implementing Montessori philosophy, curriculum, and techniques for presenting materials.  Throughout the coursework and during student teaching, our teachers provide guidance, modeling and support to their students.

Montessori Teacher Assistants

We understand that the assistant in a Montessori Classroom is an important person in the structure of the child’s development.  Our assistants have respect, responsibility, humility, and love in their dealings with each child.  They are qualified, dedicated, experienced and professional.

Administrative Staff

Our Administrative Staff, like the teaching staff, understand the needs of the Montessori program, the children and their families.  They always ready to help you with any questions or concerns you may have.

All AMS affiliated Teacher Education Programs are accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education.
