Explore and Discover - Toddlers
As you tour West County Day School you will see that
ocean life is our theme. Each one of our classrooms is named
for a fish in the ocean.
Puffer Fish
This room cares for our young toddlers, age 9 months
through 16 months. Eight children and two teachers keep
the room busy and challenging. The toddlers begin to transition into the same schedule, with
mealtimes together and a single, long afternoon nap.
Clown Fish
Children in this toddler room range between the ages 16
months and
24 months. The ratio remains 1:4, with 8
children and 2 teachers.
Children are provided with a predictable schedule and daily
routines.
Transitions
Children transition to the next age group on the first
Monday after
August 15th. Children transition as a group at one time, rather than
individually. This assures that they
have
familiar friends around them
as they begin in a new
environment with new teachers. Some teachers
loop with
their children, moving
into the next age group with them.
