Kindergarten Readiness
Ages Four - Five

As you tour West County Day School you will see that ocean life is our theme. Each one of our
classrooms is named for a fish in the ocean.

Whales
Our youngest 4 year olds enter into a structured, teacher directed curriculum as they prepare for their
entrance into pre-kindergarten. Ratios are 1:10, with two teachers.

Sharks and Goldfish
Children in the Shark and Goldfish classes are preparing for kindergarten.  Their curriculum is at
an advanced level, with a structured schedule to provide many opportunities to learn.

Transitions
Children transition to the next age group on the first Monday after August 15th. Children
transition as a group at one time, rather than individually. This assures that they have
familiar friends around them as they begin in a new environment with new teachers. Some
teachers loop with their children, moving into the next age group with them.
